Prefab3D is a program I’ve been developing since the early Flash days of the 2010s. What began as a personal project to create demos for the Away3D engine—where I was one of the developers—quickly evolved into a tool to help other users. The first version (1.x), built in Flash 8, garnered over 35,000 installs worldwide—a solid achievement for a Flash-based program. As the need for improvements grew, I faced time constraints due to my personal and professional commitments, alongside increasing feature requests from the community. I decided to rebuild the software from scratch, introducing many new features for version 2.x. With version 3.x, I shifted away from the free model, realizing that maintaining forums, documentation, and continued development was too demanding for a project driven by my own needs. Today, many popular editors offer powerful features, but they often miss the mark when it comes to working on online, web-based custom projects—especially when your work goes beyond simply loading a file created in an editor.
